Research clusters are created by hiring multiple scholars into at least two schools/colleges in related areas, based on shared, multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary research interests. Cluster hires and academic cluster creation serve to align the University’s research to extramural funding trends, strengthen research activity, enhance faculty diversity and develop opportunities for student research and learning that responds to societal challenges.

Times World University Rankings-2022 have been released. Oxford University in Britain topped the list for the sixth year in a row. The list of top-400 educational institutions also includes three institutes in India. The Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) is in the 301-350 class, the Indian Institute of Technology-Ropad (IIT Ropad) is in the 351-400 class while the IIT-Indore is in the 401-500 class.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met with leading CEOs of five different US sectors. He informed about India’s abundant economic opportunities and tried to attract them to invest in the country. Arriving on an official visit to the US on Wednesday, Modi on Thursday met US Vice President and Indian-origin Kamala Harris and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

The Prime Minister had earlier met with CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone. Shantanu Narayan of Adobe and Vivek Lal of General Atomics are Indian-Americans. The other three CEOs were Cristiano E. Amon of Qualcomm, Mark Windmar of First Solar and Stephen A. Schwarzmann of Blackstone. Ahead of a meeting with business leaders, Modi said he would brief leading CEOs on the economic opportunities in India
